Artist • Sue Girard
Sue Girard is a mixed-media artist with a strength in photography. Sue is a resident of Lake Oswego, where she has lived for 20 years. As a child growing up in the Bay Area, Sue began her journey into art with oil on canvas in a garage studio built by her father. She also visited art museums in San Francisco as a young girl and went on to study art in college. She has always been fascinated by, and drawn to, impressionist painters. As an artist, Sue was drawn to bright colors, which inspire creativity and imagination. Each time Sue finished a piece of art, she is motivated to explore new techniques, whether in a collage, greeting cards, photograph or painting.
Sue has also been a lifelong traveler, with a passion for seeing and experiencing all parts of the world. Her passion for travel has inspired Sue’s photography. She recently returned from a three week trip to Vietnam, where the photos for her current gallery showing were taken. The trip took her from Hanoi to Sapa, Ha Long Bay, Hue, Hoi An, Ho Chi Ming City/Saigon and the Mekong Delta in the south.
Sue’s work has been displayed and sold in many venues across the Portland Metro area such as; Jennings McCall, Beaverton City Hall, Art Media, Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts, North Bank Gallery, Gresham Visual Arts Gallery and Heaven and Earth. She has won multiple awards for her artwork and photography. In the fall of 2006, Sue joined the Village Gallery of Arts to show and sell my work, volunteer and get involved in the artist community.
